One of the most recognized furniture styles of the 20th century, the Ball Chair is a lounge chair which is essentially, as its term suggests, a large, hollow ball. The chair is created from laminated fiberglass, a composite material composed of synthetic polymer and glass fibers recognized for its lightweight and solidity. The interior of the Ball Chair is lined with either fabric or leather cushions, and is fixed at the bottom with a capacious fiberglass pedestal. The Ball Chair was finished in 1963 by Finnish interior designer Eero Aarnio, and was basically intended for private use in his home.
